Christmas often enters the realms of sublime merriment and blatant commercialism, but Goode's Reindeer drive it head-on into the absurd. The Eight (yup, actors with antlers) don't spread candy cane coated stories of Christmas cheer; they tell a tale of scandalous allegations against Saint Nick himself. This twisted satire is not only brazenly funny, it cleverly considers the dysfunctional ways in which society deals with unmentionable subjects. In the process, it distorts Christmas beyond recognition - but a few minutes in any department store will soon fix that.

Don't miss what promises to be a very different evening out with the following antler-donning cast: Garnett Doell, Chris Stone, Patrick McIntyre, Annette Martindale, Nancy Stone-Archer, Jerry Stuebing and Sarah Zimmerman.

And with all this going on, how can the spirit of Christmas be saved? Go behind the tinsel and hear the truth about Santa straight from the eight reindeer who know him best. A totally irreverent and absolutely hilarious expose of Santa Claus and his famous reindeer. The eight (Rudolph doesn't count-but boy do they all have opinions about THAT!) are the famous reindeer of old who finally, due to a possible sexual harassment law suit by Vixen against Santa, are all finally driven to tell their stories of abuse, jealousy, sex, drugs, drunken orgies, homosexuality, and a frightening Mrs. Clause. Being a reindeer isn't at all what you thought it was.....Prepare to fall out of your seat laughing at this holiday treat-SOL style!

In the monologues, each of the reindeer gives his or her take on the accusation that Santa raped Vixen. All of the performances this weekend were dedicated in loving memory of Chris Salazar, the former Class of 2005 president who died last month in an accident at his Northwest D.C. apartment.

    BLITZ THEATRE

So, I have been really busy the past few days because I have been catching up from the weekend.  My entire weekend was occupied by Blitz Theatre.  This is one of the many things unique to Hiram College and specifically its theatre department.  Blitz Theatre is where a show is selected and performed within 24 hours.  So, for example, we met at 9:00 PM on Friday and chose a show.  We chose to do some monologues from a book called The Reindeer Monologues and some various skits and holiday jokes from a website.  On Friday night, we did a read-through, organized the set, and went to the costume shop to find some costumes.  By this point, it was about 2:00 in the morning.  We then decided that it was a good idea to get some sleep.  We met back at 10:00 and did another run-through, made tons of posters, and sent out mass e-mails.  After lunch, we went to the props loft and found some props for the show and made what we didn’t have.  For example, we needed a broken yo-yo.  I made one out of a rock and some string.  It was pretty funny.  At 9:00 PM on Saturday, we performed for an audience of about 30 people.  It was pretty exciting because most of the people laughed at us.  (Which was our intention).  So, there wasn’t a lot of time for doing homework because of Blitz.

Are you looking for something different this holiday season - an adult show, perhaps? Well, if so, this may be just the entertainment for you. In this off beat holiday show, Santa's reindeer reveal a scandal at the North Pole, accusing their not-so-jolly boss of less-than-saintly behavior. Rumors are confirmed, secrets are revealed and Santa Claus will never seem the same again.

Richard Epstein, Jim Maxwell, Nan Mann, Shoshana Rihn, David Woodberry, Harry Bauld, William Stearns and Beth Kiendl appear as the eight reindeer.
