Jeff Goode Directed by Anthony Wills Jr.Tired of Christmas Carol and Nutcracker? Here's a holiday play for those who like their comedy like they like their christmas chocolate - dark and sweet.
Scandal erupts at the North Pole when one of Santa's eight tiny reindeer accuses him of sexual harassment.
After performing in multiple productions of The Eight Reindeer Monologues with Chicago's critically acclaimed Journeymen Theater Co., Artistic Pride Production's Artistic Director, Anthony Wills Jr., brings his take on this hilarious comedy by Jeff Goode to New York audiences. Jack Helbig of The Chicago Reader raved that Journeymen director Frank Pullen makes "this Santa send-up both outrageous and touching” Following in the footsteps of Pullen, Anthony Wills mines the piece for its comedy while adding his own dark twist. This production is expertly played by a troupe of actors who are not only funny but also bring out the often subtle complexity of playwright Jeff Goode's characters.
Not only is this show a welcome change from your typical holiday fair, but Artistic Pride Productions presents the show in an all new format. Their production stars company members Ben Curtis, Matthew Hardy, Anthony Wills Jr. and a rotating cast of guest artists including ...Rocio Mendez, Anna Wilson, Craig Zisel, Sophia Loren Coffee, Ryan Duncan, Anna Rahn, William Mowbray, Stephen Tenner, Cassie Fireman, Thomas Martin, Tanesha Ford and more! Each performance is a new experience with actors playing different roles on different nights. This play is so hilariously entertaining you just might want to see it again and again. Sexual misconduct in the work place...drunken Santa....corporate scandal cover up...flying reindeer....what better way to spend a night at the theater!!!
The Eight Reindeer Monologues also marks the first production with APPs new managing Director, Ben Curtis. In it's second year Artistic Pride Productions is a collective of Artists who create opportunities for some of the best artists working regionally, and across the country to work with their favorite peers.
About the Company: Artistic Pride Productions
Artistic Pride Productions is a collective of thought provoking and passionate artists dedicated to promoting and cultivating their work as an extension of the work of their peers. APP creates an environment in which artists who are marginalized in the commercial art world such as minorities, women and non-traditional artists have a place to not only create but thrive.
We are hard at work organizing our first full production in NYC, The Eight Reindeer Monologues!!Helpless female or lying Vixen! You've heard the allegations she's made, the rumors about Jolly old St. Nick and poor little deformed Rudolph who's now in an institution. Well now hear the real story from the reindeer themselves....
A hilarious comedy by Jeff Goode where the reindeer give their opinions of Vixen's allegations that Santa made more than inappropriate advances at her starring an amazing troupe of actors... Ben Curtis, Matthew Hardy, Stacey Haughton, Anthony Wills Jr. and a plethora of rotating guests including Ryan Duncan, Anna Wilson, Craig Zisel, Thomas Martin and more!!!!!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!”It's not all fun and games at the North Pole this year. It looks like Santa's been naughty, not nice, and the reindeer have something to say about it. As each of their stories is heard, a tale of perversion and corruption begins to unfold. Was Rudolph's unprecedented promotion entirely innocent? Is Santa really as jolly as we're lead to believe? Are Vixen's allegations against Santa true, or is she the real Grinch who stole Christmas?
The Eight Reindeer Monologues is a dark comedy by American playwright Jeff Goode, and your chance to see a real Christmas story.
Directed by Caitlin McNaughtonThe play is presented by Dunedin youth production company Counterpoint, which was formed last year to support young artists and produce work by young people for young people. The cast is Luke Agnew, Daniel Goodwin, Ben McCarthy, Nell Guy, Orion Carey-Clark, Abby Howells, Trubie-Dylan Smith and Rachel Chin.

The Eight: Reindeer Monologues
Performances: Dec. 5-7
Auditions: Nov. 4, 7-11 p.m.
Author: Jeff Goode
Director: SPA senior Caitlyn Wan
Despite the holiday-themed title and the timing on the schedule, Wan said this show is decidedly different from traditional holiday fare. An allegorical show filled with social commentary, “The Eight” follows a group of eight reindeer who each have a different take on the rape that serves as the show's inciting incident. Yet another twist? The alleged rapist is none other than Kris Kingle himself. Wan said the plays touches on race, harassment, gender discrimination, power dynamics, homophobia, feminism and political activism. The Rudes have strategically scheduled this show to draw an audience who might normally be turned off by the Shakespeare of it all. Wan said she also hopes the show will attract AU's socially conscious student body to experience an unusual drama.

This isn't the Santa you've come to know and love. But don't take our word for it; come hear it straight from the, er, Reindeers' mouths. All those rumors about him and the elves? And Rudolph's little secret? And Vixen's scandalous story? Yes, the reindeer finally speak up -- and they don't hold back! This is a no-hooves-barred, reinless romp through the North Pole, as each of “The Eight” takes a turn on the stage to tell their own side of the story. This dark, adult comedy will have you rolling in the aisles during the show, and discussing the topical issues it stirs up over drinks later.
A cross between Scrooged and The Accused, THE EIGHT offers a Christmas alternative to those adults looking for something just a little different, and a lot more grown up, this holiday season as the eight reindeers who pull Santa's sleigh every year are called to bear witness to the reputation and innocence (or not) of their employer. On paper, this is a frightfully cynical exercise in besmirching the reputation of the jolly fat man in the red suit. In performance, it is a series of eight very hysterical and very poignant monologues that aim to explore the nature of cover-ups, and which bring into question the value of speaking out when remaining silent might be better for the greater good.

Will Griffith will be performing his stand-up comedy routine as the opening act to Amelia Musical's Playhouse production of The Eight: Reindeer Monologues.
This is an OPEN HOUSE event so you can see the progress of the Playhouse (no tickets required).
We are hoping to do "The Eight" at our community theatre next December. I have never seen it performed, but have read it and it makes me laugh out loud every time. Our theatre seats 90, and we will probably run it 3 nights, for $15 a ticket.
10/10/13 email:
We have contacted Samuel French and are going to produce "The Eight" at our new theatre, Amelia Musical Playhouse, on December 27 and 28. If it sells well we will have a holdover date or two. You asked me to let you know so you could put it on your site. We are located in Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island in northeast Florida.
