So All Alone (cue script)

(ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE and SIX are onstage at the beginning, they stand with their backs to the audience.)

(ONE turns around and faces the audience.)

ONE. Sometimes I feel so alone. I sit in my room and stare at the walls because there isn't anything else. And there isn't anyone to talk to. Because I'm all by myself.

So I just sit in my room and stare at the walls. And I think about all the other people in the world. Four billion people and no two of them alike. And I'm sitting in my room all by myself, because not one of them wants to talk to me. Each and every one of them has something better to do. I've been rejected by four billion people. And all on the same day.

I sit in my room and stare at the walls and that's all I can think about. And I feel so all alone.

(TWO turns around. TWO does not interact with ONE at all, because TWO is alone. In fact, none of them nine players should ever interact with each other on staqe, because they are supposed to be alone.)

TWO. Sometimes I feel so alone. I sit in my house and stare at the walls because there isn't anything else. And there isn't anyone to talk to. Because I'm all by myself—

(SEVEN enters from the audience. By this time the players will be talking loud or even shouting to be heard over the other players.)

NINE. Sometimes I feel so alone. I sit in my favorite restaurant and stare at the walls because there isn't anything else. And there isn't anyone to talk to. Because I'm all by myself—

VOICE. (irrational, angry) FOUR BILLION. FOUR BILLION. FOUR BILLION PEOPLE AND EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM HAS SOMETHING BETTER TO DO. I'VE BEEN REJECTED BY FOUR BILLION PEOPLE!!

(the VOICE startles the players and they all stop talking and just stare off in the direction of the voice. Then, ONE recovers from the interruption and turns to the audience, as if to begin the cycle all over again:)

ONE. Sometimes...
