Act Out Productions. Executive Director, Frank A. Barnhart, founded this organization in 1994. During the last eight years, it has maintained an artistic mission of providing Central Ohio audiences’ theatrical experiences representing the best of current Broadway and off-Broadway shows. The organization has won many awards, including the Stonewall Union “Stoney” Award and the coveted Central Ohio Critics Circle Award. Act Out Productions has produced productions in Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Akron, Zanesville, Chillicothe and Portsmouth. Their original adaptation of One Edward 2 played Los Angeles and eventually moved to off-Broadway in the spring of 1997. They will be opening their production of Members of the Tribe, by Ohio playwright Nancy Heiden, this November on off-Broadway for a 4 week run. Their continued success and dedication to theatre that is entertaining, business savvy and marketable has propelled Act Out Productions to the forefront of critical acclaim and established it as one of the most talked about and respected producing organizations in the Gay and lesbian community.
